Rescheduled 5th year anniversary event.

Return to Goodsprings, Nevada

This event was supposed to be held way back in October as the sites anniversary.    The Route 91 Festival shootings from the Mandalay Bay Hotel created work scheduling conflicts that could not be avoided.  Since we were fast approaching the end of year holidays, we weren't hopeful that rescheduling before years end would be possible. Luckily, we were able to take a break and find a day to get together.

A large portion of the group was under time restraints and had to leave during our lunch break.  Since so many left and I forgot about and wanted to watch the Army Navy game,  we almost cut short the rest of the day.  So glad we didn't.  Since this was an anniversary event, we revisited mines we've previously viewed as a group.

It's been a while since we've all seen each other.  I hope seeing everyone again was as good for all as it was for us.  Over the years, we've seen new people join in occasionally, but there are some who are almost always with us and form the core of the group. Some of you have been with us since the beginning.  When one of you are missing, these outings never feel the same.  For me, at least.

If you've ever attended a previous event, you would have noticed that our group photographer, Sonya, is often in everyone's faces.  Some find it strange at first, but the results often speak for themselves.  I think most would agree that we don't have enough pictures of ourselves during activities and these candid moments often represent us best.

This event, she captured over 700 images, but her camera had difficulty focusing.  Because we had so many people in a dusty mine, her camera flash was reflecting mostly on suspended dust. She caught some great moments, but not as many as we would have liked. There isn't a "suspended dust" setting on cameras, so not sure what to do about the dust issue in the future.

As with all previous events, if you were in attendance, these pictures are yours.  Download and distribute however you'd like.  If you'd like larger, raw copies of specific images suitable for printing, just ask.
