The most complete guide to Southern Nevada's mining history.

I know most of you who were with us for this evening mineral hunt worked all day Friday, so thanks so much for the efforts to join us.  The plan was to enjoy this nice evening weather and to search for fluorescent minerals.  Since I don't own the proper shortwave UV lighting,  I never looked for them and was mostly there to socialize.

I've been to this mine site probably a couple dozen times and almost always see something new.  With the correct lighting,  it's an entirely different experience.  Minerals that looked as dull as everything else fluoresced in bright blue, green, orange, and purple.

My favorite part of these events are the pictures.  Unfortunately,  since we were so caught up with the company and Sonya didn't want to blind everyone with a camera flash, we didn't have enough pictures for a proper update.  Despite how some images appear, they were not altered.  That's really how the minerals appear under shortwave UV light.
